James Patterson is making a gift of extra money to get youngsters studying. And your faculty library might get some.
Within the third installment of his Faculty Library Marketing campaign in partnership with Scholastic Studying Membership, Patterson — writer of books for center grades and adults — is donating $1.seventy five million to high school libraries across the nation.
This time round, the plan focuses on academics. Patterson will award $500 grants to three,500 academics in grades pre-Okay by way of 12 in U.S. faculties to enhance their classroom libraries. The funds can be utilized to purchase new books, broaden programming and even construct extra bookshelves, if that’s what’s wanted.
“Many youngsters rely solely on their classroom bookshelves for studying materials, notably in faculties and not using a library,” Patterson stated in a press release. “I’m excited to broaden the attain of this system, and make a constructive impression on academics who’re working with college students all day, day by day, in each faculty within the nation.”
